Yorktown: Music
Stay the Light
(Yorktown)

James / Michael / Chris York - Music. Lyrics by James York.
Pretty much a song about not spending valueable "alive" time being vindictive or vengeful against anyone ---- no matter how much they may ask for it or deserve it! It always ends up comprimising one's character . . . . turning that negative energy into creative energy seems to work a whole lot better.
Stay the Light - James York
Standing beside myself
In a state of disbelief
Wondering how my whole world turned
Into such a monument of grief
Focused far too much of my energy
On the ones who done me wrong
And all the years it wasted away
Stole the power from my song
Ill-will offers it charity
Like a rope to a hanging man
And the pity I took for comfort
Drove me deeper in the sand
When I last saw lady jealousy
She was creeping like a hippo in heat
Lookin' for a way back into my life
To drown me down in her misery
CHORUS: Let it shine, Let it shine
Stay the light within my soul
'Cause the peace I hold deep down isn't easy to keep or define
Let it shine, Let it shine
I'm not going down that road
What I can't help but feel is a need to leave it all behind
I'm not helpless . . . . no, no, no, no I'm not helpless
The truth is hard to reach
When I can't get all that I want
When my need turns over to greed
I could use some help moving on
Doin' my best to keep
My demons chained inside
When I can't find inspiring minds
I feel like leaving it all behind
CHORUS
Stay the Light
Let it Shine
I'm alive
My soul's not dry
Stay the Light
You gotta let it shine
You're still alive
Child your soul's not dry
